Ground Dwellers LLC

A fourth-degree black belt under Carlos Machado fronts Ground Dwellers: Professor Eddie Avelar brings more than 22 years on the mat to his Louetta Road academy in Spring, branded cheekily as ‘Ground DwellHers.’ The arts on offer are all close-quarters: Brazilian jiu-jitsu for ages 16 and up, judo, MMA, and Filipino stick fighting. Training comes with no contracts, and a first class is always free — a pairing rare among DFW academies. The school shows a 5.0-star average across 87 Google reviews. Kids and adults train in separate tracks so beginners never get thrown in over their heads. Visit 7623 Louetta Rd in Spring, call (281) 871-9248, or see grounddwellers.com.
