MetchenFit Jiu Jitsu
No-gi only, and deliberately fused with wrestling — MetchenFit Jiu Jitsu in Azle isn’t trying to be a traditional BJJ school. Coach Matt Turdo, a wrestling and jiu-jitsu coach, runs the program from inside DPI, home of the Texas Elite Wrestling Club, and blends the two grappling styles so students learn positions, pressure, and escapes as connected systems rather than memorized techniques. Kids’ classes stress safety, discipline, and confidence; adult classes lean into escapes, positional awareness, and self-defense that carries into live rolling. Early-morning 6 AM sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays bookend the evening schedule for adults with day jobs. Members rate the academy 5.0 across 10 Google reviews, praising Matt’s patience and the individualized attention of a smaller room.
