Plano Aikido Center

Plano, Richardson, Garland, and Allen share exactly one United States Aikido Federation member school: Plano Aikido Center, connecting the suburb directly to Hombu Dojo in Japan. Chief instructor Sidney Shiba sensei has practiced Aikido since 1984 and holds the rank of sixth dan with shidoin teaching certification, so students learn blending, joint locks, and the redirection of an attacker’s energy from an instructor with four decades on the mat. The art itself — the dojo’s motto is harnessing and unifying opposing forces — appeals to adults seeking a non-aggressive path to self-defense.
