Texas Tang Soo Do Academy

Monday is mat night in Van, Texas – at least it is at Texas Tang Soo Do Academy, which concentrates its classes into Monday afternoon and evening hours (4 to 7 PM) on West Main Street. The school teaches traditional tang soo do, a Korean striking art known for powerful hyung forms and disciplined belt progression, and positions itself as a family martial arts center for the small Van Zandt County town. Instruction runs under Master Patrick West, a 7th-degree (Chil Dan) senior international master instructor. With a perfect 5.0 rating from early Google reviewers, the academy offers Van residents a serious Korean karate education without the drive into Tyler. Reach the school at 903-952-3355 or texastangsoodoacademy.com.
