AKR Japan Karate-Do

Since 1981, traditional Japanese karate has had a home on Memorial Drive, where Japan Karate-Do AKR traces its Houston roots to founder Shihan Raul Shelton and the Joshinmon school he organized with Sensei Ramon Veras. The curriculum is unusually broad for a single dojo: Shito Ryu, Shotokan, and Shorin Ryu are all taught, with kumite and kata training geared toward national and international competition alongside dedicated children’s programs.
