America's Academy of Pro Wrestling

Future pro wrestlers get something most training schools can’t offer: monthly live matches in front of real crowds and promoters. America’s Academy of Pro Wrestling, Austin’s long-running professional wrestling training center, was founded by George de la Isla, who arrived in Austin in 1990 already operating schools in California, and it teaches the full craft — in-ring technique, character work, and the performance side of sports entertainment — then puts students on real shows to apply it. Training nights run Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 6PM. The academy carries a 5.0 rating across 80 Google reviews, remarkable for such a niche school.
