Austin Iwama Aikido
Iwama-style aikido — the weapons-and-bodywork system preserved by Morihiro Saito Shihan from the art’s founder — is the specialty at this Cedar Park dojo, founded in 2010 by sixth-degree black belt Christopher S. Field. Training pairs empty-hand technique with bokken and jo work the way Saito taught it in Iwama, Japan, giving students an unusually complete picture of the art. Mat access is generous too: instructed classes Monday and Wednesday evenings, a fourth-Friday open mat, and an uninstructed Saturday open session for free practice. The dojo holds a 5.0 rating across 6 Google reviews. Tuition and enrollment details are posted at iwama-aikido.com/austin, or call 512-257-8552.
