Houston Ki-Aikido
Mind and body coordination is essentially the whole curriculum at Houston Ki-Aikido, a nonprofit Sugar Land dojo practicing Shinshin Toitsu Aikido under chief instructor Koichi Kashiwaya of the Midland Ki Federation. Instead of punches and tournaments, classes explore ki development and blending movements that de-escalate rather than dominate, an approach that draws students seeking a calmer, internal martial path. Training is deliberately compact: evenings on Tuesday and Thursday plus Saturday morning, a rhythm suited to working adults. Established in 2000, the school earns a perfect 5.0 from a small but devoted review base. Visit 2595 Cordes Dr in Sugar Land or see houstonkiaikido.org.
