James McGar Martial Arts

Kenpo meets jiu-jitsu at James McGar Martial Arts, a veteran-owned Denton academy where group classes specialize in two distinct traditions at once: Brazilian jiu-jitsu and American Kenpo karate. The school explicitly welcomes all ages and ability levels, so first-day beginners train in the same room as seasoned practitioners rather than being segregated into endless fundamentals cycles. Class times respect busy lives, with Monday and Thursday evening sessions plus Saturday mornings, and students have awarded the academy a perfect 5.0 rating across 10 Google reviews. The Interstate 35 service road location makes it an easy stop for commuters heading home to Denton or the smaller towns north of the metroplex. Learn more at jamesmcgar.com or call (940) 390-4483.
