Newaza Jiu-Jitsu Academy

Newaza, the Japanese term for ground grappling, names both the identity and the emphasis at this Brownsville academy, where training runs in morning (6-7:15 AM) and evening blocks every weekday plus a Saturday morning class. The school wears its values openly: veteran-owned, LGBTQ-friendly and transgender-safe, with family discounts and free parking listed among its offerings. Rated 5.0 across 51 Google reviews, Newaza teaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with beginners explicitly welcome — and its groundwork-heavy curriculum draws judo students too — while kids and teens train alongside adults at 3381 E Ruben M Torres Blvd, Suite F. Free trial classes make the first step easy in a city whose grappling scene keeps growing. Call 956-621-6106 to reserve a spot on the mat.
