PINEDA-BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU (LX Affiliation)

Rickson Gracie’s lineage reaches the Del Rio borderlands through PINEDA Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, an LX-affiliated academy whose guiding professor, Leonardo Xavier, holds a sixth-degree black belt under Rickson Gracie himself with more than three decades teaching traditional Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. That is a rare pedigree for a town of any size, let alone one on the Mexican border. Classes run Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 — short, focused sessions that suit working adults and school kids alike — and family discounts encourage whole households to train together.
