Karate Shorin-Ryu Westwood

Traditional Shorin-Ryu karate, taught with discipline and warmth in equal measure, is the offering at this West Oak Street dojo in Palestine. Shorin-Ryu Westwood draws students from well beyond the city — its site lists families traveling from Anderson, Freestone, Houston, and Leon counties — and structures instruction for all ages and abilities rather than filtering for athletic talent. Training nights run Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4 to 7:30 PM, a low-pressure cadence for a region where commutes are long. The dojo holds a flawless 5.0 across 41 Google reviews, among the strongest ratings in East Texas karate. Palestine and surrounding-county families can get details at shorinryukaratewestwood.com or 903-948-2604.
