Martinez Karate Dojo

Motobu-Ha Shito Ryu karate, a traditional Japanese lineage rarely seen this deep in South Texas, is the backbone of Martinez Karate Dojo on Brownsville’s east side. The dojo’s own website introduces Sensei Rafael Martinez as a seasoned instructor in that style and an experienced competitor on the tournament circuit — credentials he brings to weekday evening classes running from roughly 4:30 to 9PM, with slightly earlier closes on Tuesday and Thursday. Early Google feedback is spotless at 5.0 stars; the review count is small, but the signal is strong for a neighborhood dojo. For families seeking old-school karate instruction rather than belt-mill churn, the number to dial is 956-561-6963.
